Out With The Old...Not Really!
8/8/2011 - by Kim Weatherstone

The summer is almost over and before you know it the fall semester is upon you; and if you are still having trouble trying to come up with some cheap but stylish ways to dress up your dorm room here are a few ideas:

Recycling old things and redressing them is a great way to save money and create something cool and new. Here are some ideas on reusing some old stuff:

Recycling old wine bottles: You can create a unique looking candleholder by reusing old wine bottles. Find a bottle that has an interesting label printed on it or remove the label. Buy some tall candles and let the wax melt down the sides of the bottle to create an interesting and unique look.

Dressing up old furniture: Another recycling idea would be to go to a furniture thrift shop and find some small accent pieces to add around your room. You can repaint them and add your own design to it.

Reusing old pillows: Accent pillows are a great way to jazz up the scenery; they can add color to the room. Reuse your pillows by giving them new cases, you can buy some or design and make your own.

Pictures, Pictures, Pictures: Lastly, finding some pictures to put up on the walls can add style and personality to your dorm. Find some old pictures from an antique shop or take your own pictures and play around with them in Photoshop.
